Broad Appetit Food Festival
Where: Broad Street between Monroe and Adams Streets
When: Sunday, May 18, 2008
Noon to 5 p.m.
Why: Broad Appetit is a brand new festival featuring Richmond restaurants, art, music and kids' events in downtown Richmond. Head to Broad Appetit to get a taste of Richmond and sample fare from a variety of Richmond restaurants including Buz & Ned's Real Barbecue, Mosaic, Tarrants Cafe, 27, Six Burner, Popkin Tavern, 1 N. Belmont and more.
Richmond restaurants will be preparing three different dishes for festival-goers to try. Each dish will cost $3. One of those dishes will be submitted to compete in the “To Die For” Dish of Richmond competition at 4 p.m.
There will also be music from bands like the Richmond Gourd Orchestra, a Bug Chef Cook Off (yes, using real bugs), and a marketplace where visitors can check out Virginia local farmers, growers, bakers and food purveyors.
