Power has gradually been restored to most of the thousands of electric customers who lost service Sunday night and yesterday due to high winds and heavy rains in the Richmond area.

Dominion Virginia Power, which at one point yesterday afternoon had about 6,000 customers without power in the Richmond/Tri-Cities service area, said that figure was down to 135 customers shortly after 7 a.m. today.

There are more than 478,000 customers in the service area.
