No one was injured this morning when a fuel truck hit a plane at Richmond International Airport.
Airport spokesman Troy Bell said the incident occurred shortly before 7 a.m. when a truck driver backed into a wing tip of a Trans State Airlines regional jet.
The truck, carrying an undetermined amount of fuel, had a prominent dent on its rear panel, Bell said.
No one was aboard the plane, which was parked at the time and had minimal damage, Bell said.
The incident, which is being investigated, comes after the Capital Region Airport Commission approved a set of safety and training rules in December 2006 to address ruel-truck safety at the airport.
The rules were drafted after two incidents in 2006 when commercial jets were struck by fuel trucks. No one was seriously injured in either mishap, but they sparked more scrutiny of all ground operations.
