A Dinwiddie County man died Friday night at VCU Medical Center after being injured in a crash a day earlier, Virginia State Police said yesterday.

A car driven by Mark Collins Bain, 50, of Dewitt crashed Thursday at 4:40 p.m. on state Route 709, south of state Route 658 in Dinwiddie. Police said he lost control, struck another car and then a guardrail. Bain was wearing a seat belt, police said. He died Friday at 9:02 p.m.

As of yesterday, the state's 2008 highway death toll was 352, compared with 436 at the same time last year.
