A Bealeton man died in a single-vehicle crash yesterday morning, Virginia State Police reported.

Thomas Byron Norton, 27, died when his sport utility vehicle struck a tree off state Route 651 and ejected him just east of U.S. 522 in Orange County, police said. He died at the scene at 6:13 a.m.

He was not wearing a seat belt, authorities said.

The fatality brought the 2008 death toll on Virginia roads to 358, compared with 449 at the same time last year.
