Virginia State Police are calling an operation to promote traffic safety on Interstates 95 and 81 a success.
Officials say troopers issued 8,160 summonses and arrests during the enforcement effort over the weekend. The results from the latest effort produced one of the highest record totals for a two-day Operation Air, Land and Speed campaign.
Authorities are asking motorists to take responsibility for their behaviors on the road. Police are urging motorists to buckle seat belts, avoid distractions, obey speed limits, and drive drug and alcohol free.
