A Christian wake for former state Sen. Joseph V. Gartlan Jr., D-Fairfax, who died Friday, will be held Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. at Demaine Funeral Home, 5308 Backlick Road in Fairfax County.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, 8710 Mount Vernon Highway in Fairfax. Burial will follow in Mount Comfort Memorial Park, 6600 S. Kings Highway in Fairfax.
