The Virginia State Golf Association offers two ways to make the ideal, affordable day trip.
The One-Day tournament series is for all ages and skill levels. It's the deal of deals to play some of the best courses in the commonwealth. The $52 entry fee per event includes a golf cart, green fees and prizes. Individual events consist of 18 holes of stroke play with a full USGA handicap index (you must have a handicap to play) and are flighted by age. Some events are two-person best-ball with flights based on team handicap.
The tournament schedule (81 events) began in March and runs through Nov. 20. Of the participating courses, 23 are new this year. The one-days drew more than 5,500 players last year.
