ASHBURN -- The Washington Redskins acquired defensive end Jason Taylor from the Miami Dolphins late today.

The Redskins moved quickly to replace defensive end Phillip Daniels, who was lost for the season with a knee injury in the early in the morning practice today.

The Redskins gave the Dolphins a second-round draft choice in 2009 and a sixth-round choice in 2010 for Taylor, who has 117 sacks in 11 seasons, including 11 last year. He is expected to report to Washington tomorrow, take a physical and, provided nothing is wrong, begin practice.

Taylor had expressed a desire to be traded from Miami, where the Dolphins are rebuilding after a 1-15 season in 2007, to a playoff contender. The Redskins were a wild card playoff team last year.

Taylor also had indicated he would play just one more season.

"I'm 100 percent confident he will play much longer than that," said Vinny Cerrato, the Redskins' executive vice president of football operations.
