WOOD'S WINNERS

First race - No. 4 Sacred Sky drops down into maiden claiming company and faces seven others in this turf sprint. With Luis Garcia up top, Mike Pino's horse just might get to the winners circle for the first time. No. 3 Sharma had three nice outings here last summer, all at a longer distance but in a cheaper condition. No. 5 Benny the Gap Man took second in his last turf sprint, so he'll be in the chase. No. 4 is the choice.

Second Race - No. 8 Blondeshavemorerun had a pair of seconds in tougher company last summer at Colonial Downs. He tossed a clunker here two weeks ago but a drop in class should help the cause. No. 7 Class Care has literally been all over the place in five life starts. The 4-year-old has competed both at the jump and sprint distance, along with a pair of turf route races. No. 4 Ready Smile is the early favorite and is the oldest horse in this maiden event. A late bloomer, he didn't make his first start til the age of 6. No. 8 in a mild upset.

Sixth Race - No. 7 Birthday Beau has solid connections in trainer Merryman and jock Karamanos. The 3-year-old tries to break a two-race streak of bridesmaid finishes. No. 4 Forest Cruiser drops into maiden claiming company for the first time in 8 career outs, which should help rider Katie Crews. No. 9 Blink and Dance has picked it up a notch since May and he should continue a streak of "in the money" finishes. No. 7 to win.
