WOOD'S WINNERS
Second race -- Three horses really stand out among this eight-horse field. No. 2 Delta Moon takes a sizeable drop in class and the 4-year-old will take anything at this point of his 2008 season. With not a single "in the money" finish in seven outings, his time has come. No. 1 Seaweed Jackson has the hot battery of Karamanos & Allen and is fresh off a victory in a slightly higher class. No. 3 Bavarian also is a last time winner and with Malcolm Franklin up top, will be in the chase. Use this trio in your exotic plays, and take No. 2 to win.
Fifth race -- No. 3 Ping Bay took a solid second in her lifetime bow June 16 at Colonial Downs. She weakened just before the wire after holding the lead, but with a rider change today and an outing under her belt, she could get her picture taken. No. 6 Champagne Disco, like Ping Bay, drops into maiden claiming company from a higher class and Luis Garcia gets a chance in the irons today. No. 8 Wanna Be a Coyote invades from Delaware she has been roughed up in three starts. Karamanos will try to turn her fortunes around. No. 3 to win.
Seventh race -- No. 3 True Blue Fingers is fresh off a runner-up finish in the $60,000 Marsh Stakes here opening weekend. Look at a comparable claiming race at Tampa back in April to know why this horse will be game. No. 5 Cryptogram was fourth in the same Marsh Stakes and has a decent track record on the turf at Colonial. No. 7 I'm a Hokie had a nice effort after being sent off at 27-1 last start. You'd think the Tech alum would have reached into their pockets a bit deeper, but I guarantee you won't get those odds today. No. 3 is the choice.
