HONAKER - Connor Overton went 2 for 3 and Bryant Lowry and Jake Smith each went 2 for 2 with a home run as Atlee routed Grottoes 17-4 in the state Little League semifinals for 13and 14-year-olds yesterday.

 

Bryan Johansen and Lew Johnson both were 2 for 4, with Johansen grabbing the win.

Atlee will play either Virginia Beach or Grottoes today at 9 a.m. in the title round.

STATE 11-12: Jack Gerstenmaier pitched a four-hit shutout to give Tuckahoe American a 4-0 win the quarterfinals of the state Little League tournament for 11and 12-year-olds in Caroline. Will Black was 2 for 2 with a home run and two runs, and Will Hodges went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI.

Tuckahoe will play Central Accomack today at 10 a.m. in the single-elimination semifinals.

SOUTHEAST 10U: Sarah Commons went 3 for 3 with 3 RBI and was named the game MVP in Glen Allen's 10-2 championship victory over Wayne County (N.C.) in the Babe Ruth Southeast Regional 10U softball tournament on Sunday in Wilson, N.C.

Glen Allen went undefeated as it claimed the district, state and regional championships.
