CINCINNATI - RH Josh Fogg (1-2, 9.85 ERA) was activated from the 15-day disabled list yesterday, and OF Norris Hopper went on the DL because of a torn ligament in his right elbow.

COLORADO - Just three weeks after returning from a torn thigh tendon that cost him 46 games, SS Troy Tulowitzki sliced his right palm Friday night when he pounded his maple bat into the ground in frustration and it shattered.

FLORIDA - RH reliever Justin Miller (2-2, 4.58 ERA) was put on the 15-day disabled list with right elbow inflammation yesterday, and RH Matt Lindstrom was promoted from Triple-A Albuquerque.

HOUSTON - RH Roy Oswalt returned to Houston yesterday after experiencing more discomfort in his strained left hip. Oswalt (7-8, 4.60 ERA) was forced to leave Monday night's start against Los Angeles with the sore hip.

LOS ANGELES - CF Andruw Jones, in his first game off the disabled list (knee surgery), struck out four times in a 10-7 win at San Francisco. It was the 11th time in his career he's had four or more K's in a game.

MILWAUKEE - Talk has circulated about pursuing Cleveland LH C.C. Sabathia. Mentioned as the primary trade bait was Class AA Huntsville outfielder Matt LaPorta, Milwaukee's first-round draft pick in 2007. LaPorta was batting .291 with 20 homers and 66 RBI in 82 games.

NEW YORK - LH Johan Santana, a two-time AL Cy Young Award winner is 0-4 in his past six starts despite a 2.48 ERA in that span. He has never lost five straight decisions.

PHILADELPHIA - The bullpen, which entered the weekend with the lowest ERA in the majors (2.66), pitched 41/3 scoreless innings in a 3-2 win over New York on Friday night.

PITTSBURGH - LH Tom Gorzelanny was optioned to Triple-A Indianapolis a day after he gave up five runs in the fifth inning in a 9-1 loss at Milwaukee. Gorzelanny (6-7) has struggled all season after a breakout campaign last year when he went 14-10 with a 3.88 ERA.

ST. LOUIS - 3B Troy Glaus is 0 for 20 against Chicago this season. . . . C Yadier Molina kept his 12-game hitting streak alive with a sixth-inning infield single in yesterday's 5-4 win over Chicago.

SAN DIEGO - Manager Bud Black said RHP Josh Banks would start against Arizona in today's series finale. RHP Greg Maddux will pitch tomorrow against Florida, followed by LHP Randy Wolf and RHP Cha Seung Baek.

SAN FRANCISCO - LH Noah Lowry, who has not pitched this season after surgery on his forearm, will travel to Arizona during the team's upcoming road trip to begin playing catch.

WASHINGTON - RH Sean Bergmann (1-6) is 0-5 in nine starts since he beat the New York Mets on May 15. The Nationals have scored just eight runs while Bergmann was in the game over his past nine starts.
