WOOD'S WINNERS

Second race -- No. 5 Vicarious Flight and No. 3 Sharethehonor both took advantage of class drops last time out and came within a length of winning. Both finished a close second in their respective races and they should be poised for a battle in today's one mile turf race. Vicarious Flight's trainer Ham Smith had a pair of wins Sunday and his stable seems ready to make a run. Sharethehonor hasn't done well in nine turf starts though and is 0 for 22 lifetime. No. 8 Mr. Jones ran against tougher company the last two summers in New Kent, but today, he stretches out a bit from the sprint distance. No. 5 to win.

Third race -- No. 1 Cicisbeo has been downright remarkable at Colonial Downs and that trend could continue today. When you finish first or second in 8 of 9 starts, that tends to draw some deserved attention. No. 6 Side Buster comes in off fifth place finish in a local stakes race and may find this field a bit more to his liking. Leading trainer Ferris Allen conditions Side Buster along with No. 2 Martins Point, who has faded in each of his last three starts but also tends to perform well at Colonial Downs. No. 1 to win.

Seventh race -- No. 2 Brahms Melody drops in class but stretches out to the 1 1/16 mile distance here. Back in November, the 4-year-old gelding had a respectable fourth place finish in a Laurel allowance race at the mile distance, so he is most capable of the adjustment. No. 8 Instinctively had a pair of nice grass efforts at Florida's Gulfstream Park this past January but has really fallen off the mark in four starts since. He does fit nicely in this nine horse field. No. 7 Walronds could be a long shot play. He won 3 straight last fall and with Luis Garcia in the irons, could be a factor. No. 2 is the choice.
